Can I use an external hard on both Windows Vista and Mac OS X?
I have a Segate 5300 external hard drive and when I plug it into Mac OS X Leopard it seems to work fine. However, when I plug it into Windows Vista it just seems to ignore it, can anyone suggest a solution that won't require me to buy another hard drive?
Maybe the drive is formatted in the OSX format, in which case Windows wont recognise it.
Copy the contents of the drive to your Mac, In OSX Disk Utility application, format the drive to the FAT or FAT 32 file system. This will remove everything on the drive, so back up first!
Then, Windows and OSX will be able to use the drive.
