It's an Ipod to Alpine car stereo adapter (iC-ALPA).
Instructions are not really clear - it states to just plug into the back of the stereo but doesn't say if I need to connect the pwr & ground wires. If I do need to connect them, where should I connect the power wire? To the main battery or to ignition?
If I connect to the main battery, would I drain my car battery if I leave the car while leaving the IPOD attached? Are they for charging purposes? Wouldn't it charge anyway even if i don't connect them? (I assume since it provided power to my CD changer). Many searches on this proved fruitless. Thanks in advance.

Yes it is necesarry since the power wires are used to charge your ipod while using it. The yellow wire (constant) is connected to the yellow ire of the head unit, and the red wire(key ignition) is connected to the red wire of the head unit. If you leave the ipod in the car not only it will be stolen but it wont drain you battery because that's why you need the red wire, one the key ign. is set to off, it will turn off all the devices including the ipod adapter.
