The stereo headphone adapter for the palm treo 600 is able to work how?
I went to radio shack today after looking online and seeing on Amazon.com and radioshack.com a standard stereo headphone adapter for sale for my Palm treo 600 smartphone; they were both Explicitly listed for the treo models 600 and 650. Radioshack even had the special type of adapter with 4 contacts on the plug (crossover headset or something). Anyway, we could not get any output through the headphones but only through the built-in speaker on the treo using pocket tunes and realplayer. Is there a setting or something i'm missing to make it play through the headphones. I've checked my preferences on my treo and within pocket tunes and realplayer on the treo.

I took the treo with me to radioshack and didn't buy any adapter once i realized none would work. yes, the regular mic/head set for making handsfree calls works in the jack so i k now the jack works. I will try that media player instead of pocket tunes,
You had much better luck than me. Radio Shack didn't know anything about them for my 600. I had to go on ebay and get the adapter!!! If you got it at Radio Shack, try going back there (take the original packaging if you have it) and tell them it doesn't work, then ask them if they know what the problem is. They will be more likely to help you and look at it more in-depth when they don't have other customers waiting (they know they get to make commissions off customers in line behind you, and you are 'costing them money') So try going in around 7-9 at night when they aren't very busy.
I use TCPMP to play MP3's, and it immediately played as soon as I plugged it in. Try making a phone call and see if you are able to hear anything.
Also, maybe try synching it to your computer & doing a hard-reset, then see if it works.
