I have AtherosCommunications LAN-Express AS IEEE 802.11g PCI-E Adapter-does this mean my laptop is wireless?
I also have Marvel Yukeron 88E8039 PCI-E Adaptor and Microsoft 6to4 Adaptor #2, but that one's not working right now.
Or, how else do I tell whether or not my laptop has wireless?
v. many thanks, my ability to keep up with loved ones is riding on this...
Hi, I've done as Dak says (thanks). There are no available internet connections. I don't have a wireless router & don't want to instal one, I just want to see whether or not my laptop can go wireless when I move house.
So, according to what Dak says, I need to set up my wireless internet connection. Can I do this without installing a router?
My previous laptop used to tell me there were wireless networks in the area. At least 1of the owners of those routers (the neighbours) has left - so I can't say whether or not there are any networks in the area anyway. Any suggestions? Thanks
Yippee, it looks like I have wireless, there was just a switch on my computer that was switched off. Silly me!
Thanks very much!
Yes. IEEE 802.11 is a set of standards implementing wireless local area network.
Go to your internet connection and see if you have the Wireless Internet option there. You should be able to see any available network list. Just go ahead and choose your network. **Might need password for wireless connection** Lock means - password secured, Unlock means you can connect to the network unsecured.
On vista go to start - connect to -- you should see any available list on that window. If not, then you will need to set up your wireless internet connection. You will need a wireless router.
