what is the better option ..taking research or project while doing BS degree in CS ...if I go for research then following topics are there ….plz give me a realistic guidance ..which one I should take
•Mobile Banking,
•Video Games,
•VoIP,
•Robotics,
•Design Patterns & Their Implementation,
•Micro Controller Programming,
•Image Recognition,
•Internet Security,
•E Learning,
•Simulation,
As for as projects are concerned
Flight Chartering Module,
Courier Management System,
Shipping Lines Module,
Warehouse Tracker etc
I guess the real question is, do you like theory or application? I myself like theory, the thought that I know how to do something is more important than actually building it. But, some people like to get their hands dirty and build something.
If you like theory, do the research. I think you have some great topics there like Design patterns (they are the rage right now), Internet Security (which could help you land jobs, everyone is looking for security experts), and image recognition is hot too (especially from companies doing fingerprinting, security, face recognition and more)
But I have had projects where I learned a lot by doing them. The great thing about projects is that they can go straight to your portfolio when you are done and be a HUGE asset in job hunting. My portfolio alone was the difference between me getting hired and some of the people I was up against. I know for a fact that my portfolio landed me two different jobs.
Lastly, take into account what you have done so far. If you have done lots of theory with little application, do the application. If you do lots of application, learn something in theory that later you coule apply to future applications.
It really depends on what you
1) Like to do
2) Look forward to doing in the future for a job
3) What will look outstanding to future employers
Good luck with the degree!
