does load balancing add the speed of two connections or it just keep you in the average speed?
I have Firewall with two wan ports and load balancing ability, each of wan connections is 1 Mbps, using load balance, can i use the internet as i have 2 Mbps connection
The overall answer is yes, you will have the equivelent of 2 megabytes of bandwidth. Thee are a lot of technical gatcha's going on, but bottom line, your assumption is correct in that you would have 2 Megs worth of bandwidth. There are some caveats:
1. You firewall must support load balancing via its internal routing mechanism. IE, each network you want to route to, must have an equal cost route from the firewall to each separate gateway.
2. Your ISP must have equal cost routes for your internal networks or nat pools routing to the wan interfaces of your firewall. If you have two separate ISP's, then your BGP routing to your ISP's must advertise equal cost routes to your internal networks or nat pools to each ISP.
