How fast should a properly a configured Linksys wireless-n 150 series router be with Comcast internet?
I ran a diagnostic, and with the ethernet cable, connection speed was 3000 kbps, with only wireless, it was 285 kbps. Is this normal? Would it be fixed by moving up to the 300 series?
You are limited by the speed of your internet connection. If you have a 10Mbps connection your greatest download speed would be 1.25MBps. While a regular cat5 cable is rated for 100Mbps it's greatest transfer speed is 12.5MBps.
With that said you should be seeing better download speeds with your wireless than you are. Try moving the wireless computer next to the router and do a test. Then move the wireless computer 50 feet away and do another test.
Also, Wireless N needs a wireless N adapter to achieve the speeds the router advertises. So if your laptop has b/g wireless you will not get N speeds.
