Can I send and receive FAX over IP (FOIP)?
Hi,
I already own a VOIP system in my place (VOIP directly connected to my IP phone, I don't use any ATA or VOIP Gateway)
I just want to know if there is any way to send FAX to a traditional fax machine?
by the way, on my VOIP service provider there is nothing mentioned about Faxing
it seems my VOIP provider doesn't provide faxing, is there any way to get FOIP to work?
Hey Brad, I read your source link, it says, " To use the old machine to send Fax through a VoIP phone, a VoIP Gateway is the best option, along with a T38 enabled ATA. The T38 protocol permits a VoIP network to facilitate ‘movement’ of a Fax communication over it."
I want to to run my fax machine over T.38 protocol, and be able to send and receive documents, nothing should really go wrong with it.
I think the reason why most people don't use FOIP is because they are so lazy to go with the newer faxing technology.
More companies use FOIP service, there is no need of fax machine any more. The faxes are managed through the internet and it can be done anywhere anytime. Besides being cheaper, it is available on smartphones and there are no limits of using it.
