How do avoid losing a bluetooth adapter?
I have this thing:

Suggestions on how to not lose it?
Currently I plug it into a spare usb hub when it's not in use. I could use a better idea. I don't want to keep it plugged into the laptop as I fear I'll manage to hit something and snap the port off.
the chances of it breaking because of leaving it in your computer are small, probably. however, if you really don't want to do it this way, i suggest buying another, if it's vital to your computer usage. your method of attaching it to a bigger device is also good, but as you said not really so practical. really my best advice is to think before you buy, no offence, but smaller is not always better. think of how you are going to use something, and if this particular design of this type of product is the one that benifits you: companies make a great deal of money just on customer's decision to choose the smallest device, even though they would save money and get better use out of a bigger option.
in other words, if you lose your bias to your instinctual idea of what is a good product, and instead compare products based on your usage and lifestyle, you can become more "one" with your devices.
for now, i suggest continuing with the solution you have. i'm assuming you bring this hub with you, so you do have the bluetooth adapter when you need it. if your hub was always at home, and you wanted to take the bluetooth device with you without the hub and still not lose it, i suggest a pocket of a backpack that is not only inside a zipper, but somewhere where it will not fall out. you can always do a similar thing to storing it with the usb hub, like putting it in a plastic bag that is harder to lose, and while still not the most classy way, it shouldn't be falling out anywhere this way.
