Since it may have been loosely considered a "great" victory for England,but by no means the turning point many American history books so often have claimed,that is,the end of Spain's sea power and the beginning of England's.Their overall fleet advantage was 300,000 tons to 42,000 was far too great to be smashed with a single defeat,even one so shattering as that of year 1588.Moreover,my country Spain used its failure as a chance to build a far superior navy.Over the next few decades,more ships and great treasures reached Spain safely than ever before.In fact,it can even be argued by many that the defeat of the Great Armada marked the beginning,not the "end",of Spanish sea power.(few people are aware that Felipe,angered by Lord Essex's daring attack on Cadiz,sent two more armadas against the English in 1596 and 1597 both of which were dispersed due to severe weather storm conditions,not by English counter attacks.)
