How do I hook up my cable internet to my 2wire router/modem?
Here is the deal, I had SBC/At&t, I moved, no service available only TW Cable, got Road Runner Internet, Modem needs to be hooked up to the cable line and has an ethernet port that goes to the computer, but when I hook it up to the 2wire modem to split it between my PC and MY Xbox 360 it does not work, can you help?
From what I can gather, the 2Wire modem is for your former DSL service and you can't use it. Sounds like you are trying to use it to split the internet connection. Won't work because your ISP only gives you one external IP address.
There are couple of ways to share your cable internet service:
Easiest way is to buy a router. Set up as follows. Cable modem>WAN port on router. Then you can plug all your ethernet devices into the LAN ports on the router. Plus, you get additional security (NAT and hardware firewall)
Or you can also set up internet connection sharing on your PC and get a second NIC for the Xbox 360.
