I think wind turbines are a good idea. They SEEM to be a good source of “clean” energy.
But we won’t know if they’re economically viable until they're not heavily subsidized by governments.
I suspect we don't know yet what the cons are. For example, no one seems to be investigating what effects, if any, they may have on the atmosphere. The laws of physics have not yet been repealed. You don’t get something for nothing. So if we remove huge quantities of energy from the atmosphere with wind turbines, what will the affect on the atmosphere or weather be?
